That's a significant amount of flow you have going on in there. Are you having any issues with your sand bed getting blown around?

Surprisingly no sand is getting blown around. I suppose the flow is coming from that far end of the tank at near to the surface so the gyre is losing force near the sand bed on the opposite end. But I'll see how it works out today.

Just felt an earthquake here in southern California. "Small" 4.5 centered near Riverside. We're closer to the coast but still felt the jolt. Always worried about aquariums in a big one. There's like nothing you can do except hope the aquarium build is strong enough to withstand the shaking.

Routine RO/DI station maintenance. Replacing the PRO series Cation DI resin and PRO Series Mixed Bed DI resin --- both color changing. Pro Series Anion resin is exhausted but everyone seems out of stock lately.

Running a power backup test today. It’s going to start to get hot during the day here in SoCal—- but seems capacity on the grid in California is very good with renewables during the day.

But, in case of fires, or nighttime brown outs I want to be sure I know the backup capacity.

With my current setup, and with all systems running at normal levels, including my T5s, seems I’m getting 5 hours solid.

I had to replace the intake roller on my ReefMat 1200. I don’t like its design. It’s very difficult to pull the center split spool out. I tried using pliers and that just cracked it.

I picked up a replacement gear assembly just in case.

Had to refresh my supply of Kalk. I went with @AVAST Marine this time instead of the messy delivery I would get from bulk Vitacal bags.

I wanted to show some of the QC issues on the stand. These have all been address by Algaebarn support and I’m happy. But just to show what to look out for:

Scuffs, scratches and nics:

This is probably the worst nic:

A lot of this is definitely from the doors coming off in shipment.


But also this bad assembly job…look at that screw ripping through both the aluminum frame and the pvc wall:

I know this is old thread but I have similar scratches scufs nics, how did u handle this? Have you repLaced cabinet, just lived or it, or used touch up paint? If used touch up paint, what paint did u use and match colour. They say it is black, but it looks bit Brown. As per my understanding, while doors can be replaced, the Aluminium frame itself is not. Right?
