Hey all, unfortunately it’s looking like i have to go Fallow again so I’m in search of longer, shallower tanks. A 30 breeder or something 36” long or above while keeping the gallons down would be perfect. If anyone has any extra tanks laying around that would fit the bill and want to sell them for a reasonable price or have any loaners collecting dust, I have some sick fish I need to get into treatment ASAP but don’t want to cram them in my 29 or 20 long QT.

Please let me know if you have anything that might help a brother out!

Thanks!

I only have a couple “larger” fish, a Kole Tang who’s about 3.5” and a 4” Swallowtail. The rest are small
Community fish.

The 29g works just fine for QT. For the fish you have. But if you have a lot then you would need another. I have a 29 still setup with a hang on the back filter. It's got a heater on it keeping the tank at 80 degrees at all times. No need to cycle it as I just recently moved everything out to the new tank.

I QT a kole tang in the past in a 29g. I would suggest putting in a large PVC T pipe within so they would hide within to feel safe. What are they sick from???

Thanks, it’s not just those two. It’s too many for a 29. There’s about 12 in total, most small so I’m looking for at least something 36” long, a 40 breeder, but there are some oddball sizes in a 30G as well.

Just split them up half and half to treat both. So what are they sick from? I can give some suggestions for treatments.

Thanks man and I appreciate your help, but I’ve actually been through this quite a few times. I don’t want to run two tanks because I don’t have the living arrangement for that for one, but two from prior experience, I can QT all these fish in the same tank If it’s appropriately sized, which explains my original post. I’ve already trapped and pulled out quite a few into my 20L QT but I don’t want to go “all in” until I secure a larger QT, it will just overwhelm the bio filter and I just went through a QT crash a couple months ago. 10 of these 12 fish are super low bioload fish, so I’ll be fine with something like a 40B or even a 30 long (for the extra swimming room)

All you really have to do is constant daily water changes without having to worry about it crashing.
