Has anyone ever wanted a specific species of something? Something that's not usually in the aquarium trade? Is there a protocol or something to get what you want?

I'm seeking a certain type of moray eel. Well, there's a couple of types I'm looking for.
Gymnothorax zonipectus and Gymnothorax richardsonii. The reasons are somewhat complicated but basically they are small and I like them.

I've contacted a few LFS as well as emailed some online sites. I've seen a few wholesalers outside of my country that sell them but no luck contacting them. What do I need to do to get one of these morays?

Having spent many years at wholesalers I can tell you that what you are seeking is not a regular item. It may take awhile till one is available. And then your LFS has to be lucky enough to get it, or be very lucky and have a salesperson at a wholesaler that remembers your LFS was looking for it. Searching for unusual items takes a lot of patience.

Basically whatever is common and makes money as well as is easy to find / collect will be commonly available. When you come across something that is either hard to keep alive (on the suppliers end) or hard to find and collect + low demand, it is generally hard to find especially when you're the consumer

Well that's discouraging but interesting. Thanks for the insight guys. Guess I'm going to save up for a golden dwarf. Either way I'll b waiting patiently so maybe in that time I'll get lucky.
