I recently came across a brand new fixture that was given to me by a good friend of mine from Oregon. I noticed that this fixture only has 1 switch that control the entire unit. That would mean when they are switched on they automatically go into full spectrum. I have and currently own a T5 4 bulb setup with independent switched to control lighting from dawn to dusk environments.

My concern is is it a bad thing for coral to awaken to full spectrum. My answer is YES but not too clear. Also are these lights worth even using for my tank?

Thanks in advance!

you can re wire it I had a wavepoint fixture and bought the extra switch gfi and wire it in and bam now they both come on an hour apart.

I used one for more then a year and never had any problems with it.Only thing i didn't like about it was the fixture can get pretty hot cause it has no fan, other then that, great light

It's not gonna hurt anything... Think of the people with metal halide only
It is dark and full noon in less than a minute lol....

Thanks again Troy!!! Working with another member to see if I could get the wiring fabricated for 2 switches. But, hey you know your stuff. And I believe it will be just fine thanks to you.

Shouldn't be hard to split the ballast and add a second switch.. If you want to do that and have problems just post it up... Should be 2 black wires off the ballast tied into the switch just pull one and add a second switch so there seperate... If you want 2 cords so you can put it
On a timer just seperate the black, white, and green and leave one ballast on that cord and buy a pigtail to wire the second ballast seperate.. Hth..
