Hey everyone. I’m currently away from my parent’s place where the tank is. I split half my time there and home. My dad texted me a photo of our seachem ammonia alert badge that I got to check the ammonia levels.

Basically we are having trouble reading the badge. The light for the side of the tank has not been set up yet as it currently is in transit.

Just looking for people’s opinion on what the color is.

It’s definitely not the green it was before. Tank is still cycling but is close to being done. The problem is the lights in that room are really warm so it throws off color perception.

How old is the badge?
Is that spotty discoloration on the disk itself, or on the glass?

Discoloration also seems to be getting worse and spreading.
Is it discoloration, or if I remember correctly those badges have a protective plastic film over the center when you get them. Did you remove that plastic film? Just to double check.

I did remove the plastic. I made sure to never touch the center. The plastic did seem unusually sticky.

OK, just wanted to double check.

Just got a call from my dad. He backlit the badge and as he put it, “It’s hardcore yellow.”

Moral of the story, these badges need to be read with bright backlighting to get an accurate reading.
