Issue with salinity and calibration

I measure my saltiness based soley on others relpies.

totally true but you dont want to be “consistently” out of range for months and months, not with salinity anyway….somethings can adapt to and survive long term in low salinity, other things can’t …. I’m thinking of all things measured, salinity being accurate to a standard would matter
Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. I should have mentioned "properly calibrated refractometer." I could have worded that a tad better. Point was don't measure something with two different size measuring sticks and expect it to be the same. There will inevitably be variances between different methods/tools used to measure.
