Well I got the lense late last night and took a single quick pic of my dog and noticed the focus wasn't where I thought it was, (his face).

So Anyways when I got home today and from the best I can tell the Lense is focusing behind where i'm telling it to and where it looks to be in focus through the view finder. All the below pics had the 24" in focus. Your thoughts? I appologize for the huge images but felt i needed to post them this way for this question.

Its a common problem with this lens. Send it in for repair.

Which camera and I'm guessing manual focus????

Nikon D80

Same thing in MF and AF. Complete Manual or Complete Auto.

Looks like it needs to be replaced/fixed. f2.8 isn't wide enough to worry about focus shift. I'd take a shot with a different lens just to be sure it's not something wrong with the internals of the camera. If it's only noticeable with this lens, send it in.

I have a Nikon 50/1.4, which was my only lense until this order.

It is sharp as a tac and if it was in the body I fell as though i would have noticed it even more with F1.4.

However, i've never actually done the tape measure test with it, but guess I should tomorrow. I'll post the results, but the Sigma was so obvious I noticed it with just a couple pics.
