Was searching the web for several weeks before posting anything.

So will name this guy Biddy.

I believe this is a gall crab, or was anyway.

So after reading the virtually zero information on them or anything similar.
Thought id share a few things.

-Survived multiple dips in (reef dip and bayer)
Believe this is due to its ingenious trap door it has, that blocks the chemicals from entering the gall.
-This example most definitely was eating the pavona mucus leaving a 1 inch area tissue less.
-Biddy was exterminated via a sewing needle into his/her gall.

Btw, I think Biddy sounded like a really cool little critter. Do you think she would have caused more damage if you had let her stay? I'm a noob and just curious. Biddy is just the kind of gal I would have been super happy to find in my tank. But that is solely based on ignorance lol.

Given the rate of damage, i have no doubt that at the very least would have inhibited growth and at the worst caused further damage.
Given the scant research on them i would not risk them in a tank unless the purpose was their study.

Pavona has finally started to recolonize areas of the lost tissue. Took 2 weeks just to extend it polyps again. Assuming this crab species was eating more than the mucus i caught it eating.
