Broke down tank to give to a buddy. Was scrubbing some LR to use a piece for seeding in my new tank. Sifted sand and noticed this.... orange, red slimy texture with long string tendrils or strands. I noticed them in substrate but thought it was cyano.

Agree on Spagetti worm.
Harmless and they feed on detrious. If you are seeing a few, it indicates too much detrious or food available and tank needs more periodic maintenance
 
Water change ever 2 weeks. But I don't siphon substrate. Thanks guys
