I noticed this tube thing on one of my zoa frags this afternoon. It's a bit resistant to removal. Sorry for the crappy cell phone quality.

I pulled off a piece and stuck it under my microscope. Looks organic.

Some kind of tube? Any ideas?

Sponge.

Sponge. It will bother the zoa but they should open back up. I've seen sponges grow around coral without troubles

So what's the best way to get rid of it?
Pull it off. Maybe hit it with a tooth brush.
Personally I'd toss It back my tank.
Usually pretty slow growing stuff. They do like carbon dosing and particulates.

So what's the best way to get rid of it?
A fwiw. Most of the common fungus I've seen in tanks are quite small like zoa pox, and infest the skin , kinda like athletes foot, a few do branch and encrust. Pretty rare it seems.
