It's Just a Tank

I know NOTHING about eels...
Most eels are easy to feed. They adjust well to captivity.

It all boils down to how they were captured and other kinds of parasites they attract. Usually morays have the leaches. But you never know. Any fish can bring home a leach from the fish store.

I feel like that's (a leech) something that can be easily seen with an external visual evaluation no?

Yes it is. But, some people don't know what to look for. Thin or thick strings that won't detach. In a bag, may not even notice. All the crud floating around obscures vision.

I defer to your knowledge on them. I know I don't want any, so I haven't really read into them.

There was a case here of a very bad outbreak introduced from a moray eel. Or, was it a lionfish? Anyhow, it reminded me of past experiences.

I don't know a lot. I like to know about diseases of our fish. Know thy enemy. Flukes got me once. Not again. To hadez if I risk leeches.

I keep spelling it leach. Im bad.

This post just scared me from ordering. Looks like cyanide poisoning. If jay says its something else... Ribbons don't get a health guarantee for this reason. Crup...

SCA 112g system.

Equipment in use
Lights Orbit marine IC led (I hate these things) Noopsyche K7V3 x3.
SCA skimmer 302
SCA sump made as a fuge
return pump sca something. Its just all so generic. Jabaeo 4000 return pump. Very very quiet. I have had it for 6 months now.

Livestock
Emperor Angelfish - powder blue tang - melanurus wrasse - one spot foxface - 2 clown fish - 2 firefish

Random hammer corals - 2 torches - Birdsnest - Gonioporas

My aquarium is boring.

Edit: There has been a lot of live stock changes. The emperor and Powder blue needed new homes.
Powder blue was just too aggressive, emperor was just massive.
I have since added
scopas tang
Atrosalarias holomelas
Carpenter Wrasse Him and bristlestar are missing. :(

Currently,

Full tank shot with new lights Noopsyche k7v3.

I wouldn't think that all collectors are using cyanide. From what I understand you cannot test for it without sacrificing the animal so that doesn't really make much sense.

That maybe why 90%+ captured ribbon eels have died. Most, if not all. Are captured with cyanide. The 2 I had, both ate and had no lumps in the belly.

Story is longer than that. But Jay can't say the ghost ribbon is or isn't poisoned.

Aw them ribbon eels look beautiful and very unusual heads indeed.
Good luck and hope all goes well
So am I, I have a lot to do tomorrow. Will have to figure out a tight hood for the 60.

I'm excited for you!!
Your house project is far more exciting.
That's definitely exciting.

I'm sure I'm addicted to stress. The tank is happy and well....
Gotta figure out where I want to put the 60g.

Lta evicted the starfish. Starfish will be fine. He's lived 6 + months without me knowing he was alive.

I know carpets eat starfish, I wondered If the LTA would.
