Just a theory.

I use a small waterproof spot flashlight when diving and collecting wrasse or larger predator fish. They all react and come to the light. I can then turn light on, blind them and net them.

While diving, I noticed if a green back flashed, it looked like a spot light popped on then right off. THe fish went nuts and ate the green back. This includes 4" wrasse, even though the green back was 3" lol.

I wonder if it is not a response to feed.

Yes. If I am lucky. She doesn't go in until she starts eating at a steady rate. If she can stomach the melanurus wrasse. She can have him.

Update, Eric actually called to check up on the eel. What a guy! I'm impressed.
I guess when I am ready for ordering some red margin wrasses, I know who to contact.

Be sure to get some ghost shrimp or similar as well. They need a fully mixed diet. Also, once you get it onto frozen, whole shrimp (head,tail, everything) needs to be supplemented along with fish. The calcium and other items in the shrimp is good for their liver and helps prevent issues they normally have in captivity due to lack of proper nutrition.

It's all getting them to take the first bite. I don't know if I should look into worming her, or let her be and toss is live foods. For now, she's chilling. Going to try a mix of different colored mollies, and see if they got live ghost shrimp. I really don't want to talk to Nature's select. They barely care for the fish in that shop.

Set up a 10 gallon tank with java moss and raise cherry shrimp! Ghosts won't breed in freshwater while cherries can breed like guppies.

I bought fw ghost shrimp as they had no sw. If eel eats the ghosts, I'll look into the cherries.

Got several mollies acclimating via drip right now.

Adult ghost shrimp are freshwater, juvies are brackish, and larvae are saltwater I believe. Cherries are full freshwater but easy to breed. I'm not sure which saltwater varieties would breed easily if you wanted a saltwater shrimp for feeding purposes - maybe camels or peppermint?

No, she bit the heads of both red mollies. They are adults. So, bigger than her bite. She chased the smaller ones and gave up. Lights off now. Body count in morning.
