It's Just a Tank

Yeah I get it.. I think my csb is about to do the same thing..I got it cheap “no way I’d pay $600 for a nem” cause it was in poor condition from the previous owner and I brought it back to health… it’s flourishing now but one half wants to hide under the rock and the other is trying to climb into my halides lol… the mouth is almost to the edge so I’m guessing it’s gonna tear or split and that location so they can both go their separate ways! Hopefully the half under the rock comes out to play in the light thou. Lol
Good thing is, yours is not suffering from infection.

mine did a split when it was still sick and weak. The small portion, was rotting away at the sides and started to drop tentacles. Each day, it kept getting smaller. It lost the ability to regenerate. I assume the guts are needed to regenerate. I don't think they can make a new set entirely.

Originally, it formed a hole in the center. That's how it started off. Who knows what side was getting what.

Yeah that sucks! At least it did what it had to do to survive! They grow fast!

So let's get down to my failures.

1. I did not test equipment prior to use - heater issues. This left us with fluctuation of water temps. Unlike corals, in my own observations, bubble tip anemons do not like temps under 76. At least mine do not.
This was a battle for a couple of nights. Before I got a new heater plugged in and set.
@F i s h y sent me a temp controller for the med tank, this may have been what saved half of the inferno. Getting temperature stable.

2. Lights. I should have known better, in order to heal properly, photosynthesis is CRUCIAL to recovery. The bubble tips were under terrible fish lights for 4 days until I took a noopsyche off my display. This also played against the recovery of the inferno.

3. When the inferno split, I have an assumption that one side took more of the guts with it, leaving the other half, less chance to survive. As it did not die to infection, It could not hold itself together.

The treatment worked. We just had too many human neglected errors in place.

I have officially learned better on how to run a hospital tank for anemones and coral. Even though, for the kfc dip, they recommend 74f to treat coral. Not sure how I feel about that. I am sure that is to slow down the pathogen attacking the coral to give the medicine time to do it's job. I have a few questions about that. Another time and another day.
Live and learn. And hugs lots of hugs.

Great write up, great job !!... ;)
not going to derail rt now...:)
Like that matters. i have another situation brewing/baking.

About that, my original bta was shrinking as well. Prior to this event. Really makes me wonder if shes been sick and I just didn't know.

As long as the other one full recovers and grows, I gained more than I lost. I have a much better understanding on what to do.

Also, I don't think the cipro hurt the beneficial bacteria. It still did it's job, even at the end.

How are the wrasse this afternoon?
Behaving, oddly...

My glass, is absolutely filthy.

I know I'm not supposed to mess with anemones. No one told that to Piglet (clown tang) though. Piglet kept fanning the inferno to eat whatever mucus it was expelling.

So, inferno moved to the far right of the tank. Someone else took joy over that.
He realky likes the nem there. That's his side of the tank btw.

8.50 a lb for broken down reef rock at lfs.
I wanted to buy some because it was infested with aiptasia. It's why the guy quit the hobby I'm told.

Sadly, hard pass.

Thinking of implementing an auto dose system. Im forgetting my dosage already. Fudge...

:44 and 2:00 Is when she grabs her meals. The 3rd I never recorded as I was making dinner.
19 minutes remaining for HD to post. So, right now SD

Video is awful, I need to get a tripod for phone.
Very cool. Though I'm glad my eels aren't nearly as proficient hunters.

The point I was making is, she only goes after those fish. Around her tank mates, she's a lazy rust bucket.

Once I add her molly, platty, swordtails. It's game over. They have to be red!! I have a black one, he needs to go get eaten.....

Odd part. She doesnt think twice about my firefish.

He's a coward so no video of him in there.
