It's Just a Tank

I fed the tank every 2 hours during daylight with the regal angel. Still had problems.

When I run into a problem. I can't stop thinking about why.

The regal angel was only 2" when i got her. She became very territorial.

She's a rock grazer. So, I have kept 5 rock grazing fish. clown tang, scopas, copperband, chrysus, leucoxanthus. Even if the wrasse don't eat algae. They still eat the worms, pods off the rocks. Angels eat those too.

Even after rehoming the clown tang, i got another grazer. Chocolate tang (acanthurus pyroferus).

Regal being small, and wild caught. Probably made her think she needs to be more competitive.

Well, no more rock grazers. I need to get more plankton feeders. I only have one clown. Eli doesn't count as she eats chunks of food.

Tl:dr
i goofed. Tank is at cap for grazers.

Need planktavores wrasse
Fixed it

Don't want anything as mean as solar wrasse. I was thinking exquisitus, but they can get nasty too. Eli is well behaved. I added chrysus when she was 1". Eli didn't care. Not her color. Things have to be out of the red/silver territory. I was thinking of trying fire gobies 1 more time just to see if it's restricted to her mollies.

Any can become more assertive. @jkcoral even has a possum that terrifies his tomini tang. C. exquisitus is more likely to be peaceful than some other fairies. If Elli is well behaved, maybe a rhomboid, brunneus and/or katherinae? An isosceles might be too timid for your tank. Flashers are non-aggressive as well. Anyway, half the fun of fairies and flashers is thinking up combinations of them :)

Here are some I am considering. Not from LA but to keep an eye out for. I have to see where they are on the chart.

Those might gobble up my skunks. Otherwise, I'd have them now. And flame hawkfish.

Oh right. I've kept p. cyaneus (blue line flasher), p. carpenteri. Mccockeri, c. lubbocki. C. isosceles. C. rubrimarginatus (my favorite so far).
A lot of others. Most on that list were eaten by a green banded serpent starfish.

Rubi died to fluke bleed out. Isosceles jumped threw a small opening. Carpenter, was sick and probably eaten by clean up crew. I've kept other wrasse. Not safe with shrimp.

I've kept my share. I really love the cyaneus. Miss my old male.

Thalassoma are maybe the most aggressive type of wrasse and checkerboards aren’t much better. The grey is fine though.
