Corvette?

If you used reef roids before, which is another good one, fish don't like it though. I mix the reef candy with tank water and hydrate them up for a bit. I target feed once to twice a week now.
Just ordered Reef Roids for my phyto grow out.

I target feed my LPS and broadcast phyto.

Not really happy with the food I am target feeding so it is really kewl to see the recommendations on the Reef Candy. Of course I just bought some more of the other food. My life :)

Tis the life of reefers. Always looking for coral foods. I haven't had any issues with feeding it to the lps let alone my anemone and mushrooms. They all seem to accept the reef candy more than the reef roids. I don't know why.

I think the roids is more meant to be a broadcast.

For the target feeding I like the food to be kinda gel like. I shut off the pumps so I don't have to worry that the binder isn't strong enough.

I actually stopped the Reef Roids because of PO4 spikes. Have switched to home grown phytoplankton every day. Corals have never looked better and no PO4 spikes.

How are you doing your grow out?

I am not satisfied with what I am seeing online for info so I am tinkering on my own.

I have some large wild caught clams and I have been keeping them alive so phyto is really important for me.

I have to say too the online vendors for fresh phyto are REALLY flaky. Algae barn is constantly out.

I heard about live phyto. I'm going to attempt my own culture after the xmas with the white worms. I'd like to see how that goes.
Don't get ahead of yourself. :P

The ramp up on both of those things is crazy. I would do the worms first. There will come a time in your tank where you will need a nutrient sink. Phyto for me fills that void nicely.

Did that water change and these puppy’s popped. My phosphates must of been high
I have a red goni that was doing this. Could not figure out why. Change the water out it would come out then after a few days back in. Had an API and noted that Iron was low. I found a video of Julian Spring saying iron and manganese (not magnesium) for gonis. Thought what the heck I will just dose some iron and manganese. I found some Manganese nitrate on Ebay started dosing that ... not much of a change. Because I am anal about Na and Cl balance I found some pure iron filings and decided to use those. OMG that was it! It was so bad that I would put the filings in the tank in the morning the goni would come out within an hour. When I forgot to dose the goni wouldn't open up. If I did it later in the day ... an hour later out it would come. Crazy

The interesting thing was that my snail's feet got WAY better. I have been trying to solve that problem of the snail's foot being crinkly for literally years. I tried every form of iodine to no avail. I finally just gave up, because I had no idea what it was ... lol iron the whole time.

Seems like the iron plays a role with other inverts as well.

2 cents.

I really need to run an icp tes

Those are beautiful
I have done one icp test ever lol. Just look at my corals and go from there. Figured it has worked for years, so why spend the money on the test. My results were perfect outside of iodine being a hair high, but with lots of nems and inverts, I would rather be a hair high on that.

Also, as a note on reef candy, po4 has not seen an increase due to it. Even though i phyto dose, reef roids increased it a little. In the 180s that’s fine, as I don’t have to dose now. In the rfa biocube and the nem tank, it is an issue. Well, was an issue lol. Not now. .08 and stable at that, so super happy.

Need to make fish slurry food mux blend stuff.
Got a new frag from lfs guy. Over 2" and cost less than any "black friday" deal. Also, not sure of the colors yet. oh well, I like it. I'll have to dance with placements. I don't know if the new acro will be okay at the start of 230. I'll look for stress signs. Also, there are clove polyps growing on the underside of the frag plug. The acro is also fully encrusted.
Moved slimer down to 200 par.
Sunny has a new sweater.

Edit: acro is covered in mucus from being dipped. Those things are slimy.
