... to be the "What is this?" guy and I couldn't be more excited. :)

New tank, although the rock has been soaking with TBS live sand since June, and some more from Puerto Rico in December.

So the rocks and water have only been in the tank for three weeks and there's nothing in it other than some copepods I added in the last 72 hours. Other wise completely bare.

So... sponge? Hard to get the camera to focus correctly.

I'm also starting to see some extremely thin and small ... tubes? Spicules? Mine aren't big enough to capture easily in a picture but found a pic online. They look kinda like this.

Do a search on Vermetid Snail and see if the images match. Also see if they release mucus when you dust off the rocks or feed.

I checked vermetid snail images yesterday and they seem much larger than the ones I'm seeing. But yeah, that's the first thing that came to mind. These are less than 1mm wide.

both appear to nbe sponge and can easily be removed (top one with a dental pick or small crochet needle) and other can be pulled

Looks more like a type of turnicate to me than a sponge, those " mouths " are the give away. I could be wrong though. I've got a couple that are harmless filter feeders

Yeah, there's several "mouths" and it almost looks as if there's something directly inside the orifice.

Sorry, not familiar with the aconym... NBE? Are they undesirable?
