As you may or may not know, I have a huge love for dragonets. But, there is one particular fish thats like a dragonet that I've been dreaming since I was 9 to get. SEAHORSES! Im getting supplies in on August 26th and Should be all done by the end of September! I do work with them but no real experience. So I need some answers.

> What type of coral would be appropriate with seahorses?

> Would a Seahorse out compete a pipefish for food?

> Success stories?

Any help would be great! Super pumped and pictures will be in October!

Congratulations on your decision. I too find seahorses fascinating and wish you the best. While I do not have any success story to share as my only experience with them was as a newbie many years ago, I would recommend purchasing tank bred seahorses as they will be hardier. I would also recommend gorgonians or sea whips so they may attach to them. You will also have to spot/hand feed as they will only eat what passes directly in front of them and eat slow.

Good luck and I hope my little bit of info helps

Awesome, congrats!! I can't help you much on your questions, but can't wait to see how your tank comes along!! Good luck!

Gorgonians and whips as mentioned are the go to as far as corals, you can't keep any stinging corals with them. Display macros work well also and will help with water quality- horses are messy. The problem mixing horses and pipes comes into play when the horses are CB and the pipes are WC. Wild caught pipes bring in pathogens and parasites that captive bred horses can't handle. Getting WC horses nixes this dilemma but WC horses are much more difficult to keep in captivity.

What are your tank dimensions? filtration and flow?

im doing with 2 dwarfs in a 10 gallon, I'm still deciding filter and flow, so I'm getting a good filter with weak flow so the seahorses won't be stuck to the input.
