So I did my water change with brightwell salt that was mixed with RO/DI water and mixed for over 24 hours. I cleaned my return pump and powerheads in vinegar let them run in non purified water for about 30 min. and when i restarted the system about a half hour later it looked like it was snowing in the system. They are really small white flecks. at first i thought they were microbubbles so i checked my connection none of them were loose or sucking air. So i checked my ALK it came back normal 11 dkh so i don't think it is calcium precipitation. all help is appreciated

TANK READINGS
PH 8.3
NITRATE 5 MG/L
AMMONIA 0
CA 440
ALK 11DKH
NITRITE 0
MAG 1600 I KNOW A LITTLE HIGH MIGHT BE THE ROOT OF IT BUT NOT SURE
PHOSPHATE 0
IODINE< .2 PPM

Well if the pumps are running more efficient after the cleaning, could they be kicking up some sand?

I would normally say you are high on the alk but with the higher mag you shouldn't have any issues with precipitate...

Could it be the air that was purged from the pipes when you first turned them on again?

I agree.

Thats what i thought about air purging in to the system but it has been two days since this has started and still is in the system but not as much white flakes as the first day. I don't know what is going on. All my coral seems to be doing well fully open/extended my anemones are fully open also RBT/LTA. There is no change in color or position with any of the corals and all fish seem to be fine. Thanks I am riding it out and testing as i go. thanks again

my tank did the same thing last night. im still baffled. i fished all the flakes that i could with a net and left it alone for the night and next day. when i got home the tank seem normal and all corals and critters doing fine as far as i can see. im still chasing an explanation.
