Hi guys, in the process of setting up my first marine tank. My LFS supplied me with this sand, stating it was the only product they carried.

I'm unsure now whether it's suitable. I'd like to have gobies and wrasses in the future... it's only a small grain so that's okay. It's labelled as Samoa Sand.

Any advice greatly appreciated

I’m not familiar with that brand, I’m guessing its “dry” sand (no bacteria). Depending on the size of the sand grains it could potentially work

Thanks. Yeah, I can't find much information online about it. I'd say the grains are 0.5-1mm. I was told it was a coral sand.

I found it on their website. The thing is they state it's suitable for marine tanks, but they don't explain what it's made of.

I hate to say this, but like a lot of things in the hobby, when in question and can't find any answers, don't use it. Jmtcw.

Hmmm, something felt suspect about it. Think I'll probably return it then and just say I've changed my mind. Thanks!!
