Why is it when some of the people on here introduce a new z/p do most others not say much??? I'm talking about real nice stuff. Yet others introduce things and everybody goes nuts. I don't get it. What you guys think???

Because types of corals go in and out like fades. Right now, chalices and SPS are hot, while z/p were really booming a year or two back. Z/P are still popular, but I don't think they get the attention they use to.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. My guess is some folks on here have a relationship with others that brings about a feeling like talking with friends.

I think that it has a little to do with both of the issues raised above. I also think that it also has to do a little with all the hype that tends to surround this particular forum. Sometimes people post up what they think is a really nice, new polyp when in reality its not really new (please note that I am not directing this comment at anyone, simply making a observation). I also think that many of the more experience reefers seldom venture over here into the zoa forum because of the lack of interest/participation in threads designed to gain new knowledge or skills. All too often IMO, the posts here are about "check out my gorgeous new polyps", "introducing the new LE Scarlet Lemon". Maybe if there was more interest/participation in real discussions within this forum, we could generate more participation. Just my $.02 worth.

Wow, very well said. I think a lot of the more experienced reefers, from what I've seen, tend to go the SPS route as well, so zoas take a backseat sometimes. I used to be a zoa head, and always had the rare and colorful stuff, but I've moved to SPS now, with using zoas to put color around the bottom and stuff. Don't really have many rare zoas anymore, just some "nice" ones.

I just joined this forum not too long ago. I've heard from other forums there is a lot of coral "hyping" over here. There is some of course. To answer your question, from what I've noticed since being here, there seems to be certain members who always responds to certain members.

Maybe they are in fact buddies....or know each other on a personal basis. Or, when something gets introduced by an "outsider", they are hating. So when a buddy posts a picture and everybody joins and comments, it can be seen as "blank" riding...and when somebody who isn't in the "cool zoa crew" does they don't get a lot of love. Nothing wrong there.

But, that goes on everywhere. Not hating here. I love to come here and look at what everybody has and the dope pics they post up.

To a large degree I agree with Wy Renegade. I personally avoid the "Introducing..." threads, because too often these threads are attached to some motivation to popularize what someone hopes will be a new fad polyp and any frenzy surrounding said polyp only encourages the exploitation of that polyp for personal gains. I feel like there is a difference between "hey, check out this nice paly I picked up", and "Introducing the NEW [LE] ANTS IN MY PANTS Paly!!!"

I agree with what every1 said above+ alot of the best zoas and palys have already been introduced(not saying better ones are not in the ocean) so now for a zoa or paly to get attention it has to be phenominal or very unique like space monsters, dragon ball z's,bowsers, time machines, paradise zoas, etc. It is just kinda hard to find a zoa or paly that is extremly differant from all the rest,if that makes since.

I understand what you guys are saying, but i just dont get it. Maybe zoas/ palys do need to be super crazy, but some of the stuff people have gone crazy about in the past aren't even that great. Just my opinion and im sure im not the only one.
