what do you think? I'm going to try to get a closer picture tomorrow. This one just doesn't show the purple to it's fullest. I like it cause the polyps are a little bigger...not itsy bitsy...

Yeah, I think they're BamBams...the blue ring between the tentacles and the purple face is actually pretty bright. I know people say they are common, but I still like them.

Some of my very favorite corals are common....it CERTAINLY doesn't have to be rare to be beautiful, or to grow well....I feel like this hobby is ampng the worst there is for "label appeal"....

MitchReef...your so right about "designer labels" on corals...it's all marketing. My passion is to go around buying browned out corals and see what happens to them in my tank. I've made some sweet acquisitions that way...that free browned out little SPS stick lying at the bottom of someone's tank that turned out to be a purple Bonsai...if I like the way it looks, "lineage" isn't all that important to me. Do reefers honestly believe with all the corals in the world, that only one person has THE only coral like it on the planet....I don't think so. I'd tell you to make a deal at your LFS for that browned out / faded out coral, but then I'd be losing my advantage.:wink:

I have a nice little frag of 30,000 Leagues Lokani right now that has the very slightest himt of color on an otherwise completely browned out item...I got it because my friend said that he knew I would be able to color it up...I do the same thing....I just can't keep zoas healthy...go figure...

I was wondering though--the Bam Bams I have are itsy bitsy. Are your's unusual for their size, making tucking them away something worth doing, like Bigger Bam Bams? Nice colony!

Mine are pretty big polyps too.
