I've Hatched An Idea I Can't Stop Thinking About. Opinions Needed

What's up gang Happy Friday,
So, for many years I've wanted a wartskin angler and have had reef tanks that wouldn't really work with one of them in it. With that being said, I have recently found a nice 10 gallon Nuvo that someone will sell me for 60 dollars. Has some slight damage to the black material on the bottom of the tank that ripped, nothing too crazy. I was thinking about setting up that nuvo with just a basic LED kit and one nice piece of live rock in the center. Living in there would be a special order size "tiny" wartskin.
What do you guys think about that ? Just him in there and maybe some low light corals.
- would he fit?
- could I make that tank into something cooler?

I'll post some pictures shortly of the tank to see what you guys think of the minor damage.

I can definitely see the desire to get an angler, I think they are fascinating fish!

I would be a little concerned about the tank size long term. I have no idea how long it would take the angler to grow to full size (4" according to LiveAquaria) but the tank might be a tad small for it as an adult.

I totally agree with that, I wonder how long it would take, for a short while I think 10 would be fine, realistically these fish don't need too much "swim" room.

A macro algae refugium style tank would be cool for an angler but I'm thinking long term that's just too small unless you plan to upgrade down the road

There will be a species specific tank for one in my future. One thing to consider is that they are messy eaters and their digestive system isn't as efficient as some other fish, they carry a big bioload compared to other species. So you need a tank and filter that can support them for long term. He might get by for a little while in the little tank, but he will need an upgrade pretty quick.

You guys have any other good ideas for that 10 gallon besides a clown pair ? Also, what do you guys who answered think about that damage to the tank?

You could put a Pygmy angler in there, but those are hard to come by.

There's also some smaller scorps like am ambon, yellowspot, or perhaps a bandtail waspfish. Coral crouchers stay small too, but you rarely see them.

Zoacollector gets in Pygmy anglers sometimes,they get around 2-3 inches I believe. Just keep up on maintenance.

I actually saw a coral croucher on Divers Den yesterday!

Oops, I should reword that. You rarely see them once they are in your tank, you'll see them all the time for sale on DD. I'm sure they find them when collecting SPS colonies.

I'd agree with the others as a wartskin would become to big for this size tank. That being said you could get a very small one and either find a bigger home one day or get a larger tank yourself when he becomes to large. Otherwise I'd suggest the other options listed above
