If all goes well I should be receiving a pre-quarantined YWG tomorrow to replace my Tiger Pistol Shrimp's long time partner that I lost a few days ago. I've introduced shrimps to gobies before but never a goby to a well established shrimp. Nothing to worry about, right?

On that note, it's crazy how the loss of one fish can change the dynamic in a tank. I guess I didn't realize that the grumpy goby was the queen bee! And the shrimp has pretty much sat in the middle of his burrow not even poking his nose out for dinner. The new goby has big shoes to fill.

I wish you so much luck! If all goes well I’m sure people would love to get updated (Especially me, I might try a shrimp with my established yasha goby).

Yes, good luck and keep us updated! My stomach gets tied in knots whenever I make a new addition. From my perspective it's always exciting to have a new inhabitant but the tank's residing inhabitants might not feel the same way and the chaos that might result is stomach churning. :-) The stakes are even higher when you're trying for a new pairing! I hope my goby/shrimp pair live for years and years to come and when it's their time I hope they go together! :-)

Thanks for the words of encouragement...and just as I think I can't get more anxious...right after I posted this the vendor contacted me to say that UPS notified him of delays and recommended not shipping any fish until next week to help ensure safe delivery. So I get to be the most anxious person in the world until Tuesday. I can respect the decision but I'm dying from the anticipation!

Wow, I'm shocked to read that it was UPS that made the recommendation! It makes you wonder if they grew a conscious and are finally taking the well being of livestock into account! I know the delay is hard but this is a good thing especially after reading all the posts on here that didn't have a happy ending because of livestock stuck in transit!

They should pair. Yes one fish can change the dynamic and when adding the new one it may change again. Yes please keep us updated. Goby/pistol are great additions

i've bought TWO "captive-bred" yasha'a from LA... my candy cane pistol shrimp has openly accepted them both. I actually got the shrimp first then i got the first yasha to then replace it months later with the 2nd.

i am considering buying a 3rd from LA.. but am not looking forward to potentially having a 3rd die on me for no apparent reason..

Yasha's are awesome little gobies, I wish you luck. I have a Yasha/Candy Cane pair in my nano and I can happily sit and watch them all day!

This looks exactly like my hi fin/candy cane pistol pair. You're right about watching them all day! I actually witnessed an interesting moment where my pistol was out moving sand around and my hi fin was keeping watch. As it happens my curious little clown goby came over to see what was going on and he got a little too close to their burrow. My first thought was "oh no" thinking there might be aggression from my hi fin because he started swimming toward my clown but all he did was gently nudge my clown which I guess was goby code for "keep on moving" which my clown did. Haha.

Haha, "Nothing to see here, move along!"

Our new friend is here! Interestingly I think the shrimp is already aware of his presence but I think the goby probably needs to chill a bit before he notices the shrimp. Beautiful little fish, I couldn't be happier. I know where I'll be sitting all day today!
