Iwaki got to touch

I have an Iwaki 100RLT as my return pump. It is seated directly on top of a neoprene mat. It is hot to the touch, but seems to be functioning fine. Being that it is throwing off considerable heat, is it okay on the neoprene? Been as is for about one week.

Id be less worried about the mat and more worried about heating up the tank.
Must be a reason its running hot.
