Will be purchasing either the Iwaki MD-100RLT or Reeflo Yellowtail in the next 48 hours? Love to hear which you all think is better. Using it for return from basement sump with 17 feet head and manifold with three peripherals.

The Iwaki's, especially the Japanese motor ones run forever and you also dont have to worry about the shaft seals starting to leak like you do with the Reeflo. The Reeflo on the other hand uses MUCH less power. Check the wattage of each pump.

I have owned several of both, and my new build is either getting an Iwaki or a new DC pump like a speedy or an Ecotech Vectra L1. The DC pumps being controllable and very quiet are super attractive.

Anyhow, I think your choice boils down to cheaper to run and requires more frequent maintenance, or set it and forget it but pay a bit for power!

I am looking at the same setup. How much system volume do you have? Let us know how it works out. Will be buying return in the next month or so.

If you want to buy a new pump every few years get the reeflo. If you want to buy one pump for the life of your tank buy iwaki
