I have a new 6500 DCT pump that is t working for me. I have it externally installed for my water change station. I’m getting a code P000 when I try to start it. Nothing happens. I can even run water threw the pump to attempt to prime it and nothing happens.

Any idea?

They aren't self-priming. That might be your issue. These are the instructions and I wouldn't trust one of these pumps externally. If you do make sure you test it against power failures 4-5 times to be sure it continues to pump.

Position the pump lower than the water
surface on the side of the pond so that the
water can be drained to the pump because it is not self
-
priming.

Remove the filter cover and connect suction hose (A: inlet) and pressure hose (B:
outlet) from the pump. The connection should be waterproof.

Fill
the suction hose and pump with water before turning it on.

To prevent the pump from becoming clogged, provide the suction hose with an
adequate suction filter.

Never let the pump run dry.

There are several reefers in my area who run it externally for a water change station like I do. I would never run this 24-7 on a display tank externally.

I did put water into to prime it. I even run water through the unit that basically made it act like an expensive elbow lol. No leaks.

It finally started after I pushed a few buttons. Run for 5 mins with no leaks. I thought it was fixed so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in it won’t turn on again [emoji24].

It won’t run dry - it just says P000 and doesn’t start.
