Jack Adams from reef builders passed away ?

Got into the hobby May 2022 Didn't know who he was when he passed but now I think he has some of the best videos. It's a shame he passed condolences to all who knew him

I left the hobby for around five years, when I found out Jake passed away it really hit home. I used to watch his videos just about everyday while I was in the hobby. This past November I started to rewatch old videos of his, little by little his videos started to pull me back into the hobby. I bought a micro tank which led to a pico tank and now I’m sitting here with plans for a future 265 gallon reef.

The posters that revived this thread are kinda sus but that aside, not a bad thread to revive.

I did a ton of research about 6 years ago and decided that at the time, the hobby wasn't something I could manage. Some of that research was Jake Adams's stuff.

When I revisited the idea of getting a reef tank late last year, I was met by this news. So tragic.

Lately I've been binge-watching Jake and Mark's Reef Therapy episodes. Jake was so.... different. Different in the best kind of way. His passion for the hobby (not the industry, because those are two wildly different things) was unquenchable. It's so refreshing. I feel like his loss will be felt for many years to come. Hopefully all the material he left for us will inspire a new generation of curious reefers.

Maybe a site administrator/moderator can change the title of this thread to correct his name?

So it's Jake Adams and not Reef Adams?

Jake Adams

Jake Adams was an avid marine aquarist since the mid 90s and has worked in the retail side of the marine aquarium trade for more than ten years. He had a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and has been the managing editor of ReefBuilders.com since 2008. Jake was interested in every facet of the marine aquarium hobby from the concepts to the technology, rare fish to exotic corals, and his interests are well documented through a very prolific career of speaking to reef clubs and marine aquarium events, and writing articles for aquarium publications across the globe. His primary interest was in corals which Jake pursues in the aquarium hobby as well as diving the coral reefs of the world.

A Big loss to us as reefers and his family. I did see a photo of his wife holding there baby and it made me smile . I wish his family the best of look moving forward. And a big thank you to Jake for his knowledge and info on the reefing hobby scene. THANK YOU
