I've been reading everything I can lately about the Apex, its modules and accessories before I take the plunge. I know I need the VDM for my kessils and to control a return pump such as the Reef Octopus varioS. Id like to use the new Jaebo DCQ to save a few hundred bucks. I did find a jaebo to ethernet adaptor but have read that it wont work with the DCT pumps and can not find any info for the DCT. Anyone worked through this? Should I just plan on getting off my wallet for a 300$ pump? Thanks in advance!

You don’t need a VDM for the Kessil’s they use the ten volt port on th APEX unless your buying the 360X

I don’t believe that. The EL has a IO PORT that you can connect two devices to it.
That would take care of one Kessil.

Since the DCT PUMP ADAPTER BELOW ONLY USES A ETHENET CABLE ( below) it takes up both IO ports
You have to go onto amazon and get one of these :

https://www.amazon.com/Neptune-Syst...2747670&sr=8-1&keywords=jebao+to+apex+adapter

You will need also another IO PORT to buy a add on module like a pm1 module, that will give you the additional IO port you need to either run your kessils or your Jabao pump

I have run all of they above on my APEX’s

Kessil (except the new X) uses the variable speed ports, NOT the I/O ports. So in order for an EL to control Kessils, you will need to purchase the VDM.

The adapter listed for the Jebao adapter also uses the variable speed ports, NOT the I/O ports. So again, you will need the VDM for the EL.

You don’t need to connect the jebao to your tank. It sounds nice but there are not many use cases where you’ll need to alter the speed of your return pump unless you want to slow it down for feeding.

I have the Neptune COR and aside from setup I don’t change the speed often where it’s a deal breaker.

Also in case your apex fails, just set fallback to on and your return keeps humming along. No need to create profiles to run in case of failure.

Thank you for the advise! I hadn't thought about that.
