Okay so I'm in the return pump market and really want a dc pump. Who has so experiance with these pumps. Some people say there the exact same pump some people say the octopus is a higher end product. All I know for sure is the octopus matches my skimmer for aesthetics and has a better warranty. So..... I need some input.

I have a Jaebo and am quite happy with it so far. It has been about 6 or 8 months.
It is very quiet and does not run hot like some.
I like the fact that I can adjust the flow.
As with most equipment, I might wish for longer cords.

I know nothing about the Reef Octopus but I do have some of their other equipment and am happy with all of it.

The old reef octopus dc pumps were exactly the same. I have a jebao dc3000 and an RO dc3500 and they are the same pump. The new ro dc pumps are completely different and developed by coralvue. I don't own one of their new pumps so I can't say for sure if they are better or not but on paper they are better.

I have both the old generation and new generation RO DC pumps in various sizes and have nothing but great things to say about them. They're silent and move a ton of water.

Based on longevity, support and maintainability I wouldn't even put Jebao and RO in the same tier.

Why do so many people say there built in the same factory with the same parts?

Still haven't been able to decide on this. Which someone could tell me what makes the reef octopus 100 dollars more. Idk.

Have you thought about Aqua Excel DC pumps?? They have a 1 year warranty in the US and very quiet. I have been running my for 8 months with no issues.

A lot of pumps use the same motors. Same goes for pool pumps; 20+ brands yet only 3 motor manufacturers.

Running jaebo dc 9000 for well over a year. Been a good solid pump.
If I were setting up another tank I would not hesitate to buy another one.
I would use the extra 100 on something else
