Been having an issue lately with the water temp rising to over 81deg. I keep my house between 72-74 deg so this is obviously because of the led and the hood on the evo.

Do you guys have any solutions for this other than changing light systems?

Southern red neck solution: use a small piece of pvc to "prop" light open about 1/2"- knocks off a few degrees for me!

As you eluded to, the hood with lights on will trap heat. You could try to elevate the hood slightly to allow air to flow in and out of the tank. You could also add a small fan close by the tank (i.e. USB fan or aquarium fan).

I know for me I saw about 2 degrees higher with the hood on before I switched lighting.

I currently have 2 nano tanks in my small enclosed study running with a ceiling fan on low 24/7. Both tanks has Kessil A360WE on for 8-9 hrs. daily along with 3 computers which are regularly used by myself and the kids. House AC is set for 76 degrees and I have been able to maintain temp of 77-78 degrees. For me the ceiling fan helps the most imo.

To my understanding, Alkalinity is one of those best to monitor frequently when possible; especially if you have many corals. It fluctuate often; if not daily depending.

For me I supplement Alkalinity depletion using a dosing pump to avoid manual daily dosing.

I was having an alkalinity problem and found out it was my ato water. My filters were going bad on my ro/di unit. Changed filters no more problems.

I only have 7 small corals and it now appears that the dkh is dropping by around .5 everyday. While calcium and magnesium levels are staying relatively the same.

I know my 20G nano went through a similar cycle where alkalinity was low even when there were very few corals. I just think it's the tank's intake and less on corals. regardless whatever u decide to do, go slow. if it's not impact your corals or fish... take ur time getting your alkalinity to 7-11dkh and keep that as stable as you can.

I'm going to see if the alkalinity will stabilize with water changes once I get it to where I want it. If not then I will buy either an ato or a dosing system. Only problem is I don't really have any place to put that stuff, I will need to change out the table it's sitting on for a cabinet.

Well guys I have some sad news. The yasha goby committed suicide last night. My guess is that he jumped out when I had the top off during feeding time last night. I didn't think he was missing last night cause he usually retreats into his cave after dinner. My wife found our dog eating him this morning. He will be missed.

Picked this stuff up from one of my lfs. This is what they use in all their tanks and the company is local. I reached out to the company for some more info and the owner called me and went over what I should do. The plan is to manually dose 1ml everyday for one week and see what the parameters look like.

This will be my starting point and I will post my parameters everyday for the next week so you all can see. I appears to be good stuff but I suppose we will find out.
