Hello people of Reef2Reef

So I have a question for all....

How on earth do some of you jam pack a mixed reef together and not have absolute mayhem and carnage with corals stinging and killing each other off?

I've seen tanks with elegance corals brushing up all over other LPS corals and gonis in the midst of acan gardens etc etc...

In my tank, most of my coral encounters with one another end in a tiff, just the other day I discovered my button scoly had sent out stingers to attack an open brain and had to seperate them.

So how do you guys do it? And if you currently have a jam packed coral tank please post pics of it !!

I have a huge monti colony right near a chalice colony. My RBTA has taken up residence in the limited space between. It definitely is killing some of the corals, but it covers that space so I see little issue. Corals grow out away from it.

All corals will fight for space and survival. My tank is filled out and many corals are butted up to each other. Some are fighting and some are just trying to overthrow and shadow out the other. I do watch placement of my torch and a Hollywood stunner.

I need a bigger tank......

Nice

I try to leave room for things to grow. I like to (eventually) see bigger colonies/corals over having a bunch of different small frags crammed in together.

My goni, Duncan’s and meat coral all snuggle together in a weird coral 3-way all the time and none seem to care. I kinda like how it looks :)

I have been deferring a chop job for so long that it is total warfare in there now. Flow is suffering also. I ripped apart the right third of the reef a few months ago and I like it so much better.

Here is a pic of the center reef stack that needs work. Nine sps species in just over a cubic foot. The Millie is the most potent killing anything it touches. The purple stylo has gone from a nub to a tetherball (2 years?) and is almost touching the front glass now. The bone cutter I have cannot get through it.

But there is a brand new Gryphon band saw in a box in my basement. :)

Yes. I think we would all agree you've EARNED a bigger tank.

What on earth are you waiting for? :)

Zoos will win so cut them back or lose other coral

Yeah they are winning. Everything in there was grown from a frag of 1-2 polyps. Kinda wish I had not gone with so many zoas.

We didn't give em much water either. A gallon

Restriction exercise in year 8, steam pnk ziptie power compact era

The covering on the glass is the underside of blue brown sps, the anchor point. It grew towards the rock not from it. I think there were 12 genera here or so, still have em. Culled some room, had to
