It is not January yet, but I thought it might be a good idea to see who was interested in hosting the January meeting. The MTRC is not having their frag swap until April this year. It is not too early to be thinking about our frag swap in June. LMK if you are interest in hosting. Hopefully we will get to see Scott's new baby.

Eddie

If no one else is around and people want to come see the cyano invasion that is my tank, I could be a last resort.

If MTRC is having their swap in April, I think we should move ours back to September or so...depending on when Chattanooga's is.

That is certainly a good topic of discussion for a January meeting. thanks for volunteering Mel. Does anybody else want to host a meeting? I am not sure I want MTRC to dictate when the ETRC swap is. Although MTRC in Jan. and Chatt. in Sept. is why we were/are in June. Oh well, we can discuss.

Be aware that Memphis is having their swap Sept. 29th. That may not be an issue for East Tennessee but probably will be a conflict with people from Nashville west and Alabama.

Mel

Do you have a time and food needs figured out for this Saturday?

hey,

If we all bring our Refractometers, can you bring a standard so we can check them?

They really should be checked right before you are making a measurement as they seem to drift pretty quickly IME.

Yeah, I'm never doing that. hah hah. I will calibrate it here and there but even if my calibration solution is RIGHT THERE I'm STILL not going to calibrate it every time.

Not that that isn't incredibly lazy of me, because I know that it is, but I'm just being realistic and realistically I'm never doing that.

I am curious what causes the drift that quick though.

I have an inexpensive one and I think temperature (water and room temp) throw it off slightly. There's gotta be a spring or other mechanical device in there that changes the mirror angle and I'm guessing it stretches over time and with temp. Basically a couple of guesses which translate to I don't really know but I've witnessed it and had salinity swings which turned out to be the problem after exhausting all other possibilities.

Oh Dave...don't you always buy the cheap stuff? hah hah

(just kidding folks...it's completely not true)

My address is 6006 Adelia Dr, Knoxville TN 37920.

From 40, you take James White Pkwy exit, continue on James White until it ends (there's lots of turn offs but don't take any of them...just stay to the left until it ends) then turn R. I'm not sure what that street is called. Anyways...it all says 441 detour. So you could follow the signs for that...basically you're staying on James White until it ends in a T and at the T turn R.

Then go down a mile or so and turn left onto Chapman Hwy.

Go down past the Kroger, past the firestation, and turn R onto Stone Rd (at a light).

Veer hard left onto Magazine Rd.

Turn R onto Adelia Dr.

My house is on the left, it's yellow and there's two VWs! Also, the Christmas tree might still be in the window, I'm not sure if I will have taken it down by then. hah hah.

What time is the meeting? Any food needed? Eddie, are you taking the stuff from the group buy to the meeting? I may either see if I can pick them up prior, or pick them up at the meeting.

b) yes, side dishes, appetizers, or desserts
c) yes
d) you could have picked them up at FedEx at Murdoch Rd at 9am but now you may have to come to the meeting.

I will be at the meeting. Your stuff is floating in my tank. I will bring it to the meeting. It is ok for you to come by earlier if you want. Call to make sure I will be home.

I think we had a great meeting this time. I had a wonderful time (many thanks to Rob for helping me cook a bunch) and hope you guys did too.

We had a HUGE turnout and it was awesome. Interesting that we don't post much on these forums but we're all about a potluck!
