It's holiday season and I bought some jarred oysters last week. Been feeding the leftover brine and chunks in the bottom of the jar to the inhabitants in my cube. Of course, my RFA's and crab love it, but I've also noticed LPS and SPS feeders coming out after pouring it in.
I've also noticed the PE on my little GARF Bansai frag has improved noticeably. Coincidence?
Must be good, right? They are uncooked and there are 2 ingredients. Oysters, Water.

What are the risks/benefits of this? I can't be the only one that has done it!

i'm slightly confused about food safety here. How does one process oysters and water so that bacteria don't grow and the oyster remain uncooked...

IDK what a garf bansai is, but it sounds like they're all reacting to the smell of the dead oyster in the water. And from the ignredient list, it doesn't sound like there's anything super harmful...

Garf is an acro. Feeding high quality food has definitely made my system healthier. I use LRS food or make my own from scallop, oyster, fish, squid, and octopus in a blender then freeze it. Massive improvements in both fish colors and coral health/growth rates. Never used canned/jarred foods though!

Ahh, the wonders of refrigeration!
They are fresh jarred uncooked oysters. Not canned.
Shucked and packed into a jar with water. Jar is good for maybe a week or two max.
I have heard of people making thier own concoction using fresh seafood, but don't think I've ever seen a mention of oysters.
Was wondering if there was a reason.
