Recently turned my lights up on my tank and I bleached out my freak hair pavona. Which that’s what I believe it was from. All my parameters are in range and I constantly check them. Went into the local store and they got me to turn my lights up on my schedule but failed to tell me about acclimation.... Anyone have any experience with this? I’ve turned my lights back down to where they were at before. It hasn’t got any worse since it happened. Will it have the potential to recover? I’m new into this hobby so I would love some feedback thanks!

Good rule of thumb in this hobby is if you change something and your corals don’t like it, change it back and then WAIT. It def has a chance. Just keep your water stable and give it some time. Corals take a while to regain color when stressed but can lose it in a hurry. Hope it heals quickly. I’ve attached a pic of a not so happy coral (purchased that way for cheap) and 2.5 MONTHS later when the colors are popping.

That’s a decent little colony, I would put the lights back, and keep doing what you’re doing to keep the water in check. I’d almost bet it’ll pull through. Now, how fast the turn around? That’s hard to say to be honest. Time will tell. But I’d say it’ll recover

Thanks so much for the reply. I will give you an update in a couple of months! Hate to lose this beauty!

Thank you sir! Hoping for the best

Did the Freak Hair come back for you?
And is this an encrusting pavona or a cactus / branching type? I can't ever find any pics of a nice colony.
