Wondering if anyone can help. I’ve added a Jason Fox jack-o-lantern coral on the 16th (8 days ago). It’s placed in the bottom right of my tank on a piece of live rock. My understanding is that the coral likes low light and low/moderate flow. I see white tentacles from the coral during the day/night. However, the coral color has faded since I’ve added it.

Here’s a picture of my tank and where it’s at a day or so after adding it (bottom right). Colors are dark and deep.

Here it is today. Faded.

Parameters:

salinity: 1.025
Temp: 76-77
Mag: 1350 ppm
Alk: 8.6 dkh
Cal: 450 ppm
Nitrate: 2.5-5 ppm
Po4: .02 ppm

TIA

I found mine likes a little more light that I had thought. Try moving it to the center of the tank but still on the bottom. That may be enough

Ok, will give that a shot. How long do you think it will take before I know if that was the issue?

I'm having a rough time with this one too. I have a pretty large piece and an entire circle bleached out in the middle down to bare skeleton. The living part seems to be doing a bit better now, but the whole piece looks pretty ugly.

It's hard to say. As long as it doesn't get worse I would just leave it and give it some time.

I’m looking at the lighting requirements and getting conflicting information. Some say low light/low flow and some have high light/high flow?

It’s deff a mid lighting at least, not low. Move it up for sure. Also what light are you using and what settings? That corner looks very shaded from the picture.

I moved it to the center of the tank for now and see how it adjusts. Will eventually move it up to middle of the tank.

I am using reefradiance black box. It’s on its own programming. Ramps up starting at 6am to about 12 than stays for about 3 hours and than slowly Ramps down till 9:30 pm when it turns off.

Start it at 9. Have at least a 6 hour steady peak. I used to do a similar schedule as you and I’ve noticed better coral health/color/growth from a little shorter schedule but longer peak.

I have mine under moderate light (150 par under Kessil 160s). I have found this coral to be a little temperamental but from my experience it can definitely handle brighter light but prefers the bluer spectrum.
Mine is mid way up. My lighting is 3xA160 (0%color 35% intensity)and a blue XHO. Grows fast and is super bright.

Same exact thing happened to mine I literally put it everywhere and it just wouldnt survive.

I think in the wild these coral are found in very deep water. Someone told me that on here

Ok, before I do that I’m going to see if moving it helps first. I’m also looking at upgrading my lights but it’s $$

Do you have a picture of your placement?

Mid light, decent flow. It grows decently quick for a lepto in that spot.

Here you go, it’s dead center half way up. Bought it a 2 months ago and it was half dead at the LFS, about the size of a dime. Now it’s almost completely overgrown the plug.
