Jaw breaker mushroom care

Just got 3 jawbreaker mushrooms. Any tips and care advice, I understand they are a discosoma but I would like to hear from other jawbreaker owners on their experience. Thanks picture I added is the mother polyp which I now own also. She is about 1 3/4". Thanks!

Very nice momma. The only thing I would say is keep it in very low or even a bit more than low with low light and they definitely like higher nitrates like around 8. That’s why they don’t do so well in sps dominant systems. If they detach you will need to get yourself a mushroom box and some calcium reactor media to get them to reattach

Agreed, I just purchased a JB mushroom that is attached to a live rock and placed it in the bottom of the tank with low flow and low light. Hopefully it will take off!

I keep mine in a mushroom box. This way it gets little to no flow.

I habe two Jawbreakers a two Discosoma
that detached in the display. One JB is even damaged like part melted. I don't have anything that eats corals. I have all four in my fuge/w-dry. I have them in a plastic box with holes and the light is just at the end of the fuge for the macro. The shrooms are in the middle on the drip plate in a box with a clear plastic lid.

Good to know! I just bought one myself and have it very low with not much flow. I also have a dead pool which I think is a discosoma (anyone know) and it does not want to attach! I have put it on a rock in a mushroom box I dont know how many times and it ends up at the bottom away from the rock sitting on the mushroom box floor! I check for him about everyday! LOL.

I out tricked him and today added a big frag plug and so far he is sitting on it and hopefully will attach! I have lost so many shrooms in my early days not keeping them in boxes and will never make that mistake again! Is a electus also a discosoma? I have some yumas and rhodactis and they open much bigger and seem to grow faster in a little higher light!

About how big do most mushrooms get before they start making babies. My yuma is 2 to 3 inches and no babies yet!
Do you know what type a Frankenstein is and a dragon lady? I have both of those coming in and hopefull y getting a majic carpet soon! I notice that people frag the frankensteins and magic carpets! Not sure what the deal with that is! I actually got one that has rounded out but I saw people selling them that are like half a shroom

Oh and I have an OG bounce! Geez dont know how I forgot that and a sunkist that I really dont care for, I used to have a reef koi sunkist and it was so much prettier and florescent!

Yes you can put any mushrooms in a mushroom box and they will attach to ca reactor media, but the JB is especially sensitive to flow. Most others not so much.
