along w my 220, 90, and 10 gal. I have recently bought a 13.5 gal Fluval Nano tank. I am currently housing two Carmel misbar clowns, black clown goby, and a blue barred dottyback. I have heard speculation about adding jawfish with a dottyback. The dottyback is very active but not aggressive. I was looking into getting a pearly jawfish. Any opinions, just want to make sure I’m making a smart move!

Kind of a small tank for all if those, let alone a jawfish too. Dottybacks can be agressive and are very territorial. I would say yes go for it, except for the size of the tank...

Both are territorial but if provided adequate hiding- MAYBE.

Thank you for the help. Might be getting a new bigger tank then, thanks for giving me a reason;)

Gotta agree with the first sentence.

I’ve found yellow headed jawfish (sustainably Florida hand caught by kpquatics) to be quite peaceful. OP, if you get one, have at least a mound (or bowl) of gravel at least 4” deep with subatrate. I used caribsea seaflor. Real Gulf of Mexico live sand from live-plants.com would also work well.

I am thinking of eventually getting another fish in my 30gal. I am thinking of a captive bred dottyback because they are supposedly more peaceful. Though it is one of several candidates. So, interested in hearing more opinions on this thread.

When I had my captive bred indigo dottyback a 20 gal QT with a midas blenny the dotty took the blenny's tail completely off. It never grew back. I separated them until it was time to put them in the 32 gal together. I never saw the dotty harass the blenny in the 32 but the blenny stayed in the rocks almost all the time. I never trusted the dotty and recently rehomed him so I could add more peaceful fish.
