Hello all,

Just wanted to share this experience in case someone finds it helpful.

Two weeks ago I did a deep clean of my sand bed. In the process it stirred up some hydrogen sulfide, and I'm sure a lot of nasty bacteria. I also accidently caved in my jawfish's house.

A few days later he developed a glassy eye with a white flim and eye bulging. I thought it was pop-eye but it could have been any eye infection.

Seeing as they are very hard fish to catch and not wanting to do more harm, I target fed him Selcon and Vitachem enriched food. I didn't use them together just alternated each day between the two.

A week later this seems to have worked and he is happy and healthy again.

Hopefully this helps someone if they encounter a jawfish with an eye infection.

One caveat, if you suspect flukes is the cause, I think a more aggressive treatment action might be needed. 20200410_191511.jpg

Thanks - glad to hear the fish recovered! Just a point about the Selcon and Vitachem - although they can't hurt, they won't actively cure an acute bacterial infection. Jawfish nutrition can be a bit tricky, I'd consider keeping him on those supplements long term (label directions of course, not a higher dose).
