First off, I am new to this site so hello. I am entering this contest after a year long break from reef keeping. I took a break due to a cross country move from Seattle to Hilton Head Island, SC. This will present a challenge for me for this contest due to the lack of local fish stores and a local reefers to trade and buy frags from. My goal is to take advantage of the the 50% off from our budget that we get from purchasing from sponsors. Another challenge is I have one piece off equipment, a coralife digital timer power center. Craigslist in this area is practically nonexistent so I will buy all my gear including tank online. My plan is to do a ADA 60-p build. I have wanted to do an ADA tank for a few years now and this contest will be perfect for it. Only issue is shipping on these guys are more than the tank so I may do a Mr Aqua 17.4 instead. I'm excited to be back reefing and look forward to being apart of this community. Mahalo!

Equipment:
Mr Aqua 17.4 gallon Rimless aquarium
Fishneedit 24w x 4 t5 fixture
Aquaclear 50

Coralife digital timer
Tripp lite backup battery
15 lbs live rock

Livestock:
Picasso clownfish(both have died)
2 turbo snails

Coral:

Total budget $0 of $500 spent

Welcome to R2R! Thanks for joining and please make sure and post often!

Hey there!! Welcome to R2R!! Glad to have ya' aboard! Good luck with your build! Can't wait to see the progress!!

Thanks for all the kind words. Turns out to get an ADA 60 P delivered it is over $80 just in shipping. So I have decided to go with the Mr Aqua 17.4 tank. Same exact dimensions as the ADA just not quite the quality and clarity. May order some other gear along with it since most sites are having a memorial weekend sale.

welcome to r2r, good luck with your build, sounds like it is going to be a nice setup

So I'm getting ready to order my tank. I'm kinda nervous I have never had a tanked shipped before. Hope it all arrives in one piece. On another note, I planned on going fish less on this tank but I love fish so much I don't know if I can resist. Thinking about some designer clowns but idk!

You should be fine, if the tank is broken then the company will probably replace it. What kind of corals will you have in it?

Planning on doing a zoa garden with a few mini maxi carpet nems...I would also love to do a nice sized tyree neon green toadstool leather or a nepthea colony

Sweet tank! Update us when it gets in!

Hello and welcome to r2r :welcome: Sounds like you are going to have a sweet tank, good luck in the competition.

finally got my stand...

So since I live in an apartment and sold all of my tools before I moved out east I could not build a furniture quality stand which I will always have holding any display tank of mine. So I spent the week scouring the antique shops and thrift stores for a nice piece of furniture to use as a stand that would match all of the black furniture that I already own. I found this at an estate sale today. Its an old Asian style wine cabinet of some sort that I plan on modding so I can get the most out of the space. Cosmetically it needs nothing. Also my Mr Aqua is scheduled to show up Wednesday. The other issue I having is that I am going back and fourth on my lighting. I wanted to do Kessil LED but its really hard to capture quality pics of tanks with LED from what I have seen on other boards. So I am really considering t5's since this contest is based on our pics.

Nice find, look foward to seeing how you mod it. One of the things that I don't like about apartment living, limits what diy projects that you can do, unless you have someone elses place that you can use.

Awesome! My tank came a day early but I am in Jacksonville. Expect some late pics!
