Jbj 1/4 chiller set up question

I am glad that the others are all OK. When you say chiller is off, the return pump that goes thru the chiller is also off?

Yes, both the pump and chiller are off. My thinking is I just want to eliminate every new item I introduced for now (chiller, Sicce 4.0 pump, outside smoke via windows). I ordered an ICP test and took out some water this morning to save for that.

I really don't think the chiller is the problem. Had to be the smoke in the room that night and morning.

Thanks for your email.

We do test every chiller with RO water before shipping these units.

RO fresh water would not affect anything in your aquarium

There are no chemicals with in the heat exchanger that is used. Only RO water.

However it is not a bad idea to flush the chiller when received. This way you have a piece of mind when hooking up the unit to your system.

good to know... I have my chiller plug in for 15 years now, I usually back flush it every few years, and it still brings down temp from 79 to 78 in 25 minutes. The probe doesn't work anymore though, it always displays 99, I always use the neptune to control it.

Just wondering if it's okay to turn it back on. All the fish are acting normal again. The water change and carbon removed anything that was in there. Thinking it had to be the smoke from outside.

to be on the safe side, just flush it again. also pull down the temp gradually, about 1 degree per day.
