JBJ 20 gallon AIO reef tank

This is exactly what I plan to do with my xenia. Ive seen lfs I bought mine from have entire 5' frag tanks full of them and they sell out super quick. All im going to do is trade frags for other corals. For whatever reason xenia loves to grow in my system. A little too much haha
I used to grow the xenia in my sump with just a fluorescent bulb. I put lost of rubble rock down there and let it attach to the rubble and pull them out as needed.

I love Xenia I love pest corals idk why haha

I don't like the term "pest" for corals. They are "higher maintenance" than people like to think. And the fact that they are sold as a "beginner" coral doesn't help at all. When my last system was up and running, I would have to "cut" xenia every week. And I use the term cut so people know hat I was doing, but I would inject kalk paste into the xenia when it started growing in spots I didn't like.

I completely agree because there more then just a heavy spreader there great indications on if your tank is out of whack I saw that first hand

I've been looking at doing something like this. Its doesn't bother the torches? I wonder how sticks would feel about it in general vicinity. My wife doesn't like the "clean" look i keep on my back wall lol
My wife only cares about my snails everything else she says is pointless

@elorablue nero3 had an update now you can combine the pump with your light now !
I think I updated. I don’t like the fact that when you put it in feed mode it drops the lights as well as the pump. If you figure out how to just put the pump in feed mode let me know

So turns out my Xmas favia has been receding in the back it’s lost some green on one polyp but I moved it into a lower flow and small light to see if that helps. I don’t wanna lower my lights and effect everything else that is doing okay

I’ll just stick to regular Xenia’s right now haha

side note test results today are
Alk- 10.3
Calcium 410
the others are stable

it seems to me that calcium is going down and alk is going up ? I thought they would be in unison ? Any reason to this ?
I’m curious !

Are you dosing ?

back down alk ,add cal, get back to your level slowly. or just add some cal.

Nope I swore off all bottles for right now ask @fishguy242 haha

Okay I’ll try to test for next 3 days to see what’s going on it’s been tough to test with work but I’ll do my best. It’s weird I only feed fish and corals and water change 10% weekly I don’t under stand how it keeps raising

I can keep alk at 9.6, cal 450, and ph 8.2 just by adding 5/8 table spoons of kalk to my 5g jug of rodi for top off , just need to dose trace / mg which I don’t really too often like once a month lol

with that said ,just add some calcium, corals are consuming cal faster than alk. just slow, check every other day.

I used to use Kalk. It I just recently found out it decreases phosphates and It played a part in my Dino outbreak maybe further down the line when my frags are bigger

Is there a product you recommend for adding calcium ? Maybe something DIY ?
