Jbj 28 gallon as a frag tank?

I can get a complete setup with a chiller for pretty cheap.


And I want to start a frag tank and grow my frag tank as my coral supply grows. So a 28 gallon is perfect for now.

But is it a good idea. I only want frag racks in the display portion so I can optimize my frags in the tank.

That being said I know I won't have any live rock in the tank for the biological filter.

So this probably wouldn't be a very steady tank would it?

Can you put some rubble in the back, or ceramic rings in a mesh bag.

Yes I can. But do you guys think that would be enough?

Do you plan on adding any livestock? I can't imagine excessive nutrients simply from coral. I could be wrong though.

Maybe just a few algae eaters and a clown for bio

I'm thinking it would probably be fine. As suggested, just be sure to have some porous live rock (or something like marinepure would work), and maybe run carbon too. Just be sure to stay up on water changes as well.
