Jbj 28 replacement pump. Maxi jet 1200?

It seems the maxi jet 1200 is the correct pump to use to replace a bad pump in a jbj 28 and get slightly more flow. Is this the pump everyone is using? It seems they redesigned it recently?

Yes; a lot of people are using the maxi jets, I'm still running my stock pumps, but I'm looking to upgrade the one that's pumping through my chiller for better flow.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the one I linked was the correct one. There is that one and then another maxi jet 1200 that is $10 more expensive but looks mostly the same.

I'd check the sizes, because a maxi jet 1200 barely fits.

Got it and it fits. A little bit noisier than the original but seems to pump a bit more. When I took the old one out, the intake was slightly clogged so that may be the difference I'm seeing.

How did the mj1200 work out? Is it too strong and did it raise the temp on your tank?

I had the Marineland 1200 in there first. It was loud but definitely more flow than the stock pump. I didn't notice any change in temperature. I just installed the eheim 600 last night. Dead quiet but definitely less flow. Seems just slightly less than the stock pump even though it is rated at 160 or so gph. If the second acella goes out, I will likely replace it with another eheim. Any idea if the eheim 1000 fits? The 600 was an easy fit, plenty of room everywhere around it.
