I have an all in one JBJ 30 gallon reef tank
As you can see in the picture the rear chambers are completely filled with water.

Anyone know how to leave the water in the tank and taking water out of the back without it filling back up? I have watched numerous videos online and their read chambers are almost empty.

I tried taking the water out of the back and poiring it in the front but the back just fills back up.

From that picture it looks like you have too much water in the tank to begin with, use a hose and syphon some out of the system till you get to the desired level you want.

If i siphon even a gallon out the return pumps in tank make tons of noise

I just set the same tank up and I'm having the opposite problem, I don't think I have enough water in the back chambers. I am no expert by any means but maybe there is something wrong with one or both of your pumps? I called jbj warranty which the number is in the Manuel and I have to say they have excellent customer service. They are sending me a new pump. In addition when I received my first tank it had a small scratch right in front and they sent me a new tank and thank goodness I did not have to pack up the scratched one and send it back. Give them a call, it can't hurt. :)

The pumps seem to be working fine
Ok well it was just a suggestion. I'm still trying to figure out why mine is so low in the back chamber and because of that I don't think my protein skimmer is working right. Good luck.

You definitely have to much water in there.. my rank came with these sponge things that go over the baffles to lower the noise from trickling water.. Tanks do make some noise.

That specific system is not meant to be run with that much water in the rear chamber you really have something misconfigured, the water is supposed to go over the over flow through the filter mechanism underneath the baffle back up and over. There is only supposed to be about 2 to 3 inches of water above the pump.

JBJ has good customer service have you tried contacting them to see what they recommend?

I agree, their customer service is great. Cary and Manny were very helpful.

Do you have this tank? I'm having a problem with a water line and my tunze 9004 protein skimmer, any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

....right up until it's split the rear seal and then of course I threw it out wasn't worth resealing it to me, I'm not into headaches anymore!

Truthfully I have always stayed away from Tunze, not that they make anything bad just never really felt like buying any of their products, sorry!

Maybe the [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] has better "Tunze" insight!

Did you have a protein skimmer? If so which one did you have? I'm kinda new to this, I have had mixed suggestions, some say just do water changes, forget the skimmer, than others say it's a must. Help please. Sorry op6rigo, don't mean to use your thread for questions:rolleyes:

Yes, I had a eshopp HOB.
Both ways have pros and cons, that's not to say that either way is better or worse!
Without a skimmer water changes are a must, even with you should still do them but it's a bit less critical IMO.

Thank you, I will check it out. And I always do a 25% water change weekly using a turkey baster to blow off the live rock and change filter floss.
