JBJ 30g build

I am setting up a 30g JBJ rimless, and I am having trouble getting it to filter right. My water level is the same in the main tank as well as the box with filters and pumps. I thought the level of water in the back would need to be lower, because it just flows right over the media boxes into the pump compartment. Brand new tank, so I'm unsure if it's me, or a defect in the tank. Any help would be appreciated!!

I believe you have too much water in the tank overall. Take some out a cup at a time until it remedies the problem.
