Hi I am wondering for all the jbj 45 guys out there what are you doing to keep the algae from the back " sump" area ? I was thinking to build a diy black acrylic cover but looking for Ideas.

Thanks

I used rigid filter floss to cover my 28.it worked but ugly as heck. If i had acrylic i would have done that.

I was thinking of getting some acrylic laser cut to make a custom "screen" to hide the rear sump and the corresponding wires and plumbing - it's on my To Do list (need to search for acrylic vendors).

you dont have any heat issues? I was thinking about doing a diy canope but was worried about heat.

Nope. Put 1 120mm noctua fan with a dial controller on it. Dead silent. I have it blowing out the back. Pulls air across the top of the water and out the back.

When I had it blowing in I did get notice some heat inside.

No noticeable heat build up with it blowing out the back. I open the hood, it’s the same as the room temperature.

Fans on the left, nest camera on the right.

Second picture is if the air gap on the side that draws the air in across the top of the water.
