Looking for a bit more flow what all out there fits in the sumo area for a pump upgrade

Me as well as I have just received my new tank and was wondering the same question

ok it seemed to help some nothing crazy but it did help I don't know if it would be worth doing unless maybe you have a bad pump

Thanks for the update. Was there any sound difference.? Mine came with a bad pump and I have an MJ1200 laying around so I will install it while waiting for replacement .

When I got my jbj 30 gallon one of the pumps was bad and I called them, they sent me a new one

I did not notice any sound difference like I said I do see a little more flow but nothing crazy

Thank you. The stock pump is 266gph while the MJ is rated @ 295gph I believe but has poor head pressure but still good to know that it does cause e betterment.

I am going with a waveline DC 2500 pump rated at 645 gal an hour. I will control it with my apex. I m looking at a kessel 160 or a SB reeflights 16 in for my light. My Ato will be a http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/smart-ato-micro-automatic-top-off-system-autoaqua.html
For the moment I will use Seachem's pond matrix along with 40 lbs of live rock and 60 lbs of live sand for filtration
If you are talking about the jbj 45 you will want the kessil 350w if you get the kessil, I have the 30 gallon and everyon told me to get the 350 but I got the 160 and now I have both.:D

One thing I've noticed on these stock pumps is that you need to keep them clean, maybe pull them out and clean it once every other month, soaking in 50/50 vinegar would be great.
Mine started producing micro bubbles after not being cleaned for 5 months lol...they came back to normal after I cleaned them. Also, like Chrisfish said, 350-360 would be a better choice, I also have both 360 & 160 on my jbj 45

Marine Depot recommends upgrading to a single pump (Tunze 1073) Here's a video, check around 1:26 for the pump I still think the stock pumps are quiet and have enough flow :)
Hey Brian:D I saw this video too and thought about doing it to mine originally but I called jbj about one of my pumps and they sent me 2 new ones and they are doing great. Btw I thought that that other thread was yours too.

Thanks a 360 is just a little bit out of my price range, or else I'm saving up for a while
