I should begin by saying that I fully understand that building a canopy completely defeats the purpose of a rimless tank.

HOWEVER, I have a 3 month old that loves looking at light fixtures. In no time he's going to be running around here, and hopefully becoming fascinated with the aquarium.

Deep blue LEDs are the worst when it comes to eyes (German sausage jokes are the wurst when it comes to puns).

So I think I need to build a canopy to prevent him from looking directly at the LED nodes.

Anyone ever done this or have any other ideas?

Hmm no but my question would be how is he climbing up to get at the lights? Not being smart as just curious. My wife if 5'2 And and she can't see over the top of the tsnk

He doesn't have to climb up. From the living room, or anywhere ~10' from the tank, you have a clear view of the LEDs above the tank when you're short like he is/will be.

It's not an issue for you and I because the light hangs at eye level, we have to duck to get a loon at them.

After reading some horror stories about these tanks breaking at the bent corner, I'm starting to think setting the weight of a canopy on the glass is a bad idea.

So I need help brainstorming a solution to this.

I had an idea for a sunreflector type board hanging from the light. It wouldn't have to come down to the glass if it had the right angle to it, and it wouldn't affect the light at all.

It wouldn't have to be reflective, of course. It would have to be lightweight, but firm enough to stand up to gravity, and waterproof.

Anyone have any ideas for this, or completely different ideas?

My buddy had a 93 cube and he made a floating canopy(can't remember if it hung from the ceiling or wall) and it looked great! Worked really well to help with some of the light bleed out as well.

I hadn't thought about a wall mount! Brilliant!

I haven't done anything with this, but I will be starting it any day.

Access is important. I've never had to work around a hood.

Wife's idea, I did all the work. I don't like the way it looks as much as I thought I would, but it gets the job done and it's a neat fabric with the sailboats and all. I'm sure it will grow on my!

Nice very nice
Also nice shelves for that nice stereo as well

I seen you don't have the original stand for that JBJ 45
I'm using a Radion on mine
But have modified my stand I'm running a sump in it
