I recently purchased a JBJ 45 and I am pumped about getting it set up! I just finished my own custom stand that i build because the stand that is made for the 45 is $250 and appears pretty flimsy. I'll put up a video on youtube soon about my build and setup.

I want to hear what you guys have to say about what i'm thinking of stocking it with. I have a 29 gallon currently that has two oscellaris clowns and a blue green chromis.
For the 45 i definitely want two clowns and a diamond goby and i'll probably keep the chromis as well. I really want one larger fish and i love the look of yellow fish in an aquarium. 3 I am considering is a yellow angelfish, a small yellow tang, or a small foxface.
Other fish I am interested in are bengaii cardinals and a purple dottyback.
Any feedback on how you think these will do together/ which ones to go with?
Thanks!

Have you checked out www.liveaquaria.com

Just look up your fish you want and you can see their basic needs and requirements as well as if they will be compatible with on another.

I use it as a general guide line when buying fish.

Gives you a pretty good idea.

The yellow tang and foxface will outgrow that tank. The yellow or haroldi angel may nip corals. Have you considered a yellow coris wrasse for a yellow fish?

Hmm. No i haven't but i just looked them up and they are a pretty fish! I'll definitely look into it. Do you think all angels have the instinct to nip at corals somewhere in them or are there good ones and bad ones? I had a coral beauty once for several months and never saw him even show interest in the corals!

A yellow Coris wrasse is cool indeed . look up yellow Coris wrasse going to bed on youtube . The wrasse is a jumper so cover required .The dotty back has an attitude with new fish . I have a fat one and I am going to rehome him in another tank . I also have the jbj 45

Some species are more likely than others, not all specimens will, but I think they all have that potential. Unfortunately for you, I have found 'yellow' based angels, such as haroldi or bicolor are more likely to nip.

Hawkfish are pretty cool. Bump to browsing live aquaria and housing requirements.if you insisted on a tang, maybe a scopus tang

Scopas tangs are just as big as yellows. It too will outgrow a 45 rather quickly.

I read that the yellow coris wrasse needed a deeper sandbed and i'm not sure mine would be deep enough. I'll also have a diamond goby patrolling my sandbed

They only need enough to cover their bodies, about .5-1" deep will suffice. The diamond goby will only be patrolling the sand during the day, and the wrasse will only use it at night.

Is the wrasse pretty active in the water column during the day? Also what do you know about canary blenny's or clown gobies?

Yes, very active and curious.

Canary blennies are peaceful and are usually in the water column.

Clown gobies are small, peaceful, but spend most of their time on the rock and aren't very active.

Just watched a couple videos! That is awesome! Cool fish. I may have to add him to my stock list

Yeah is is crazy how they dive into the sand . I had one in my 45 but I think Mr. dotty back got rid of him . They sure add color to a tank .

Just not sure if my sandbed will be deep enough. I only have 20 lbs in there right now. He might be nose diving into the glass bottom!

wow thats a really nice looking stand! ...good looking scape too!

Yeah you might need a little more to be safe . I sucked mine up one time doing a water change and vacuuming the sand . I think they lay on their side when the dive .

LandenB thanks a lot! Check out my other thread that has a little more about my stand and scape! I'm very happy with it!
Pruett i have another 10 lbs here that i bought just in case and was planning on returning so i could put it in as well if i end up getting the wrasse. How would you put more sand in after you already have your water in though without creating a dust storm?
