My gfci kept tripping since I installed a ground probe. So I figured something was wrong. So I unplugged the ground probe and got the multimeter out and was surprised to see a full 120v ac being leaked into the tank. I wonder if that's why I only see one or two nassarius snails when I feed now and am currently battling cyano, maybe due to 13+ dead snails in the sand?
Anyways, I narrowed it down to the ato. I've got a used JBJ ATO that I made a double float sensor for the sensor 1 probe connector and a single float for the reservoir(sensor 2).
I assumed I had a bad float sensor but no idea why 120v ac is being run through the float valves. I'm getting 120v ac on both sides of both sensor connectors. But if you plug it all in the unit works fine. Just adds a bunch of voltage to the water.
Has anyone seen that before? I can't imagine it was designed to be pushing 120v ac through the sensors...
I don't see how to fix it so I guess I'm looking at either making a diy one with a relay or buying a new ato unit right? I'm thinking there must be somthing wrong with the board on this unit.
